Dear John,

U.S. Wellness offers the warmest Mother's Day wishes to all mothers on the planet. Many of us fail to appreciate you are the most important segment of our population.

Bearing children and raising a family is great task that often does not generate the appreciation you all so richly deserve.

From all of us at U.S. Wellness, you have our deepest appreciation and respect for all you do and for all of those generations before you that date us today.

U.S. Wellness Meats is pleased to promote the 9th Annual National Women's Health Week, which kicks off today, May 11, and will be celebrated until May 17. National Women's Health Week encourages women to make their health a top priority and take simple steps for a longer, healthier and happier life. During the week, families, communities, businesses, health organizations and other groups work together to educate women about steps they can take to improve their physical and mental health and prevent disease, such as:

  • Engaging in physical activity most days of the week
  • Eating a nutritious diet
  • Visiting a health care provider to receive regular check-ups and preventive screenings
  • Avoiding risky behaviors, like smoking and not wearing a seatbelt

Visit www.womenshealth.gov/whw for local events in your area and for more information on how you can participate.

U.S. Wellness expresses our gratitude to our Long Island customer base that sojourned to the NAVEL EXPO on Sunday, May 4 in Melville, NY. It has been fun to watch this health expo grow over the past 2 years under the direction of Alex Lubarsky.

The May 18 edition of the US Wellness Newsletter will contain an fascinating interview with Deena Kastor regarding her training regime that led to Deena's April 20th first place finish in the U.S. Olympic Women's Marathon trials. We have high hopes this training regime will turn into Beijing Gold.

Warmest regards,

John, Lee Ann, Megan, Lacey and McKenzie on behalf of the farm families of U.S. Wellness Meats

    Dr. Serrano,

I dislocated my right elbow a couple weeks ago. It was a complete dislocation with no fractures. A reduction was done in the ER. I was in a half cast for 2 weeks and I will now start physical therapy. I was told that the elbow was one of the stiffest joints, but I was still surprised to find I had little motion with my arm. I am fortunate to have access to qrass-fed meats, but I wonder if there are certain foods or supplements that would help with the healing of my arm. Any advice you could give me would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    LAM

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

    Dear LAM,

Actually the elbow is three joints in one, so it must be treated with a lot of therapy. The elbow flexes, extends, rotates or circumducts, so when you rehab it you must do all these movements. I do not know what dislocated your elbow and how, although i will like to know because that gives me an idea which part of the elbow you dislocated (the olecranon or the radial head? ) because it involves ligaments.

Your question about supplementation is very easy to answer: 1-pancreatic enzymes
    2-GLA, CLA, Fish oil combination
    3-MSM, with glucosamine and chrondoitine
4-chicken collagen or any type of collagen with vitamin C

Please let me know what kind of injury it was, and I will give you the rehab exercises.

By the way, eat a lot of grass-fed, very important for joint integrity.

    Wishing you a quick recovery.

    Dr. Serrano
