Steak Sale!
Lamb is Back, Summer Sirloin Recipe, 15% Discount

July 18, 2010
Monticello, Missouri

Dear John,
Summer Shade

We hope this newsletter finds you staying cool in the hot July heat!  It finally stopped raining in Northeast Missouri and we have been enjoying hot, sunny summer days!  We just wrapped up the Lewis County Fair last week, which got us thinking about the Missouri State Fair next month.  Stay tuned for an upcoming fair contest and your chance to win some US Wellness spending money!

The Teres Major steak is our feature sale item this week, and one of the best kept secrets in our cupboard.  It is second only to the Tenderloin Filet in tenderness and makes perfect steak medallions.  Each package contains two steaks ready to be thrown on the grill!

Our Flatirons Crossfit Team is in action as this newsletter is being written!  The Crossfit Games took place July 16-18 in Carson, CA where some of the fittest athletes in the world competed.  What makes the games unique is that the actual workouts change every year, and many aren't announced until just days before the competition.  To see how teams prepare, visit our blog to follow Flatirons Crossfit through their training and preparation.

Start making plans to attend the Annual Weston A. Price Conference November 12-14 in Prince of Prussia, PA.  If you have not been to this conference before you are in for a treat! Every day is packed with excellent speakers, delicious meals, and plenty of vendor samples to try.  Visit their website for more information on this year's conference: The Politics of Food.

US Wellness Trivia Contest!
The first 30 responders who email the answer to the following trivia question will receive a 15% discount code via email on Monday, which is good for 30 days.   "What is the longest running county fair in the state of Missouri?"  Please email your answers to blog@grasslandbeef.com.

Thanks to all who have been participating in our Trivia Contests! In the last news alert, we asked: Which two patriots died on July 4, 1826?  The answer was: John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.

Best Summer Regards,

John, Lee Ann, Megan, Tressa, and Jennifer, on behalf of the farm families of U.S. Wellness Meats

Dr. Serrano,

My sister has myelofibrosis and is bruising for no apparent reason. What can she do?  What should she be eating?

Thank You!
Lauren

Dear Lauren,

I hope I can make some difference but everything that I am going to recommend is based on speculations and not on facts.  The disease affects your bone marrow and becomes pure scar tissue, so to prevent it, I would start with things that feed your bone marrow, and also help rebuild it if possible.

I would cook bones in slow heat and make broth with it and give to her.  Take four capsules of Alpha Omega 3 per day, as well as a good multi food vitamin like Multi Food IV by Innate, call (800) 634-6342 and use code ser030.

Start consuming high organic fat meals like bone-in steak.  (Your bone marrow is fat).  Also start Biost and Ostrophin PMG by Standard Process, call Scott at (614) 596-7994 and take about eight tablets three times per day.

Stay away from any nonorganic sources of fat, and check your hair for toxic metals or your own blood.

Good luck and God bless you,

Dr. Serrano

Sirloin Kabobs with Roasted Red Pepper Dipping Sauce

Ingredients: Sirloin KabobsDipping Sauce:
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 jars (7 ounces each) roasted red peppers, rinsed, drained, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 3/4 tsp dried thyme leaves, crushed or 2 teaspoons minced fresh thyme
  • 1 cup ready-to-serve beef broth
  • 2 tsp cornstarch (or substitute with 4 tsp sprouted flour)
Directions:
  1. Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat until hot. Add onion and 3 cloves garlic; cook and stir 2 to 3 minutes or until onion is tender.
  2. Add red peppers, wine, tomato paste and thyme, stirring until tomato paste is blended. Combine broth and cornstarch in small bowl, mixing until smooth. Stir into pepper mixture; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 10 to 12 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Keep warm.
  3. Meanwhile cut beef steak into 1-1/4 x 1-1/4 x 1-inch pieces. Combine pepper, salt, paprika and 1 clove garlic in large bowl. Add beef; toss to coat. Thread beef pieces evenly onto six 12-inch metal skewers, leaving small space between pieces.
  4. Place kabobs on grid over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, covered, about 7 to 9 minutes for medium rare doneness, turning once. Serve with dipping sauce.

Serves 6.

What Our Customers Are Saying

chicken cutlets Your business, product, customer service, shipping...the whole sha-bang is unmatched.  I keep waiting for my perfect experience with Wellness Foods to disappear and then you go and surpass my expectations again.

Stumbling on your site has changed my life and the life of my family.  After only (what is it, four orders or so) we have lost cravings for unhealthy food..I kid you not. The smell of any protein that is not yours is offensive. Not only that, but the site of commercials for fast-food restaurants and unhealthly food is an immediate turn off.  This is remarkable considering my children are 11 and 8 and we live so remote that those things are considered a treat when we get to a place that has them.

We are getting ready to get on a plane tonight for summer vacation and instead of all the normal chatter about where we will eat first my children are only talking about the activities.  This is nothing I thought I would experience.  Your food has changed my mind, body and spirit. I am so grateful that you have made this all available to my family in this remote area at prices and shipping that have allowed us to eat your protein exclusively and completely eliminate all other sources.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
