snow octopus
Dear John,
Not so fast Punxsutawney Phil, apparently Old Man Winter has something to say about whether we are ready for Spring or not.  On its path across the country, winter storm Petros dumped several inches of snow on portions of the Midwest.

If you are wondering if we built this snow octopus while you were sleeping the answer is, "No."  This is the creation of 3 brothers in Minnesota who are turning what started as a creative way to pass the time into a masterpiece to make the world a better place.  To learn more check out the Bartz brothers on their facebook page.

Instead of making snow sculptures, we continue to do our part in making the world a better (healthier) place by providing high quality grass-fed meats to as many people as possible.  You can help us realize our mission by sharing our newsletters or social media pages with your friends and family.  (links below)  On our facebook page this week someone shared their frustration with the cost of grass-fed meats and we thought it would be worth sharing this post on buying grass-fed meats on a budget with everyone.

While some parts of the country dig out of the snow, we are staying busy today fulfilling orders that include this week's sale items Ribeye and Coulotte steaks, a favorite heat and serve item Pot Roast and Gravy, and kitchen staples Salted Butter and Chicken Stock.

Midweek restocks include many of our favorite cuts of beef Rib Roasts, French Ribeyes, Filet Mignon, Chuck Roast, and Delmonico Steaks.

Looking for a way to spice up your chicken meals?  Then don't miss today's Recipe Corner featuring the Domestic Man's Taiwanese Chicken dish!

Thanks to one of our readers, Paul C., who pointed out this week's health article and thought it was a worthwhile read for the rest of us.  The article summarizes the findings of a study in England which further solidifies the evidence for the dramatic nutritional advantages of "organic" meats and dairy items.

"What ever you do guys don't  change this recipe . Great job! I got 2 cups of great tasting gravy out of it. The meat was delicious tender and juicy. Placed it frozen in pot low simmer for 1 hour and done."

Taiwanese Three Cup Chicken
Author: The Domestic Man

Sanbeiji is a popular Chinese dish, most often served in Southern China and Taiwan. The dish derives its name from its three key ingredients: sweet rice wine, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Garlic, ginger, fish sauce, honey, and basil round out the flavors in this deceptively simple preparation. Chicken is the most common protein, but pork, and occasionally frog, are also used.

What sets this dish apart is that there is no real trickery involved; the chicken and sauce simmer until the sauce evaporates, then it is removed from heat right when the chicken starts to sizzle and pop. The result is fully-flavored with a delightful texture - no breading or thickener required.
