Grilling Secrets for Your Next Grass-Fed Steak

If you're going to spend extra to get the very best grass-fed, grass-finished steaks, then you want to prepare them properly. To be a grill master, you need a few tools, a reasonable level of knowledge about your grill, good seasoning choices, and a few tips about grass-fed meats. Lucky for you, we have a little bit of experience with grilling up tasty grass-fed steaks. So here are a few things we think you should know before you get started.

Firstly, you should know grilling grass-fed steaks is a little different from grain-fed. Grass-fed meats have an entirely different amino acid profile than grain-fed, allowing for a shorter cook time and lower temperatures.

Secondly, think about your seasonings. A grass-fed steak already has a delicious flavor profile, but adding a simple steak seasoning can make this flavor really shine. Another tip we and so many others recommend is brushing your steak with melted butter or ghee. Who can say no to grass-fed butter? Not us!

Finally, because of the difference in cook time due to the leanness of the grass-fed meat, you will want to watch your steak closely. The main advice we can share is not overcooking your steak! Overcooking makes the meat tough, and most love a steak that is juicy and tender. So lead with a searing technique to lock in natural juices.

We recommend these three basics, but if you are looking for even more ways to up your grilling game, check out the following guides on our Discover Blog - Simple Tips for Grilling Grass-fed Steaks and Amazing Ways to Season Steak.

"One of the first restaurants I worked at served grass-fed and pasture-raised meats. But it wasn’t until I started working on small sustainable farms in 2006 that it all sunk in, I went from being a vegetarian to a conscientious omnivore who recognized that eating meat was vital to my health and an important part of ecosystems on sustainable farms." - Alicia Diehl

Gut to Brain - Nerve Cells Detect What We Eat

The gut and the brain communicate with each other in order to adapt satiety and blood sugar levels during food consumption. The vagus nerve is an important communicator between these two organs. Researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research in Cologne, the Cluster of Excellence for Ageing Research CECAD at the University of Cologne and the University Hospital Cologne now took a closer look at the functions of the different nerve cells in the control centre of the vagus nerve, and discovered something very surprising.

Four Amazing Ways to Season Steak

By: Jennafer Ashley

When it comes to cooking steak, the options are endless. There are so many different cuts of steak and seasoning can get even trickier.

In this article, we have narrowed it down to four different cuts of steaks (London Broil, Sirloin, Hanger, and Skirt), seasoned in four different ways for a trip around the globe in your own kitchen. Best of all, these recipes are simple and easy, even for the newbie cook!

Waiting patiently for the yellow fence wire to be rolled up for a new strip of grass that has been in resting mode for over 30 days in the super active May forage growth curve. These animals are onto the system and go into feeding frenzy mode on the long-rested plants beaming with solar energy. Below the surface, billions of soil critters are working soil regeneration magic around the clock. There was a reason ruminant animals evolved on planet earth. They play a huge role in
planet earth's survival and get little credit for the soil health they have been providing for eternity.
