Wild and Nourished

Have you ever gone fishing or hunting? Our ancestors were accomplished hunters and gatherers. Of course, they didn't have a choice. They either learned how or they wouldn't have lasted long. Our ancestors learned what was edible often times by experimenting. That can be a risky endeavor, so any information was passed along as wisdom to the next generation. They learned that some plants are poisonous while others are beneficial as food and medicine. They would have learned to regard wildlife with caution when hunting because some game animals don't like to be hunted and have the ability to inflict serious harm, not to mention other competing carnivores/omnivores like bears, cougars, wolves, gators, or snakes. They can defend their turf aggressively. Even white-tailed deer, elk, moose, and wild boars can be extremely dangerous in the wrong mood. Another lesson they learned was that organ meats from wild game were a valuable part of their nourishment. Organ meats are loaded with vitamins, nutrients, and healthy fats.

You could argue that one of the best things our ancestors had going for them was "eating wild." They didn't have to worry about nasty chemicals in their food, GMOs, or overuse of antibiotics, pesticides, and herbicides tainting their meat, air, and water. Today, most Americans don't have the time or inclination to go out into the wild to hunt for their next meal. The number of Americans who regularly hunt, fish, and forage seems to be dwindling. There are still many who hunt on occasion, but there aren't many who exist solely on what they hunt or gather. Whether you are an avid hunter/fisher or not, you'll be glad to know that US Wellness animals are raised as close to wild as possible.
