Staying healthy through winter months is always a challenge. Activities keep us busy and bring us in close contact with a lot of people. This means we are constantly bombarded by bugs that can make us sick. The good news is that most of these bugs fail because our immune response is so powerful. Our immune systems are truly a wonder. During the colder winter months we're often at a bit of a disadvantage because there's less sunshine to help produce vitamin D. We're also exposed to more bugs and our body can get worn down from fighting the onslaught. While even the healthiest individual can get sick, your odds improve if you eat healthy, get plenty of rest, and hydrate. You can give youself a leg up by staying away from ultra-processed food, junk food, sugar, fast foods, and anything that can compromise your immune system.
Food (aka people fuel) is one of the main components in a healthy, properly functioning body. That's why the food we consume makes such a big difference to our health, cognitive abilities, energy, strength, and of course the ability to fight off sickness. Bad fuel can do more harm than good. Fill your body with junk fuel and you can expect poor performance from your body. That can lead to all kinds of bad consequences, especially during winter. Fill your plate with nourishing foods from trustworthy sources. Know your food, know your farmer and you can feel confident knowing your fuel is the best quality!

"Utopia conditions have returned to South Alabama after the brutal Christmas weekend cold snap. Both grass and cattle have enjoyed the return to above normal warmth the past three weeks enabling grass plants to grow through the freeze damage incurred after 4 nights in a row of low 20 degree temps. Mother Nature has great healing properties, and we are all happy that this recovery method has been practiced for many centuries."
