Are you an avid tailgater? ...
Have you ever had the opportunity to join a tailgate party at a high school, college or professional game? You don't even have to like sports to enjoy the festivities of a good tailgate. At least before gametime, there is optimism, good cheer, fellowship and fun for everyone. Sometimes the game goes well and there's even more celebration afterwards. Sometimes, not so much. It's not uncommon to find a little friendly competition breaking out too. Back in the day, we had some great games like lawn darts with real metal darts that were chucked in the general direction of a plastic hula hoop type circle on the ground. That's where your opponent stood. Probably not the safest of games, but you knew you'd better pay attention :) Not to be outdone, the kids would have a bag of broken glass or bag of nails to entertain themselves. Times change. These days, kids are entertained by smart phones, tablets, and the internet. In some ways, the glass and nails might be less worrisome.
Today's outdoor games at tailgating parties might feature Cornhole, Washer Toss, Ring Toss, Ladder Toss and giant Jenga stacking games. Most of these games involve throwing something so there's a bit of sport involved. Nothing quite like what you'll witness on the field at game time, and nothing quite as dangerous as the old 1 lb. metal death spikes, but still competitive for friends, family and fans.
One thing that brings everyone together during these festivities is grilled food. Grilled meats to be more specific...BBQ Ribs, Burgers, Franks, Brats, Kabobs, Chicken Wings, Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chili, Meatballs, Loaded Nachos, and so much more! Whatever you love to eat can be found at a tailgate party, along with a lot of fun! If you get an invitation to attend, give it a shot. Even if the game goes poorly, the time with friends and family is well worth it.
Well Wishes, Team USWM
