U.S. Wellness August 2006 Newsletter
August 26, 2006

Dear John,

U.S. Wellness is pleased to introduce Julie Graber as a new addition to U.S. Wellness family. Julie will be working in all areas of the company; however, with a BBA in finance from the University of Iowa, Julie will specialize in marketing and finance.

Ms. Graber has spent a decade honing her purchasing finance skills in fortune 500 companies; however, she has come full circle by pursuing a Masters in Holistic Nutrition and is now applying her financial expertise into the small business world.

Julie’s roots are in the land from her youth on a multi generation farm in Southeast Iowa still managed by her father and brothers.

We are very enthused to have a very ambitious new member on our team with rural values and the nutritional background to impact the legions of Americans who do not understand the difference between regular beef and forage raised animals.

Best regards,

John, Nan, Lee Ann & Julie on behalf of the farm families of U.S. Wellness Meats

Inventory Highlights - New Grilling Choices

U.S. Wellness is now offering minute steaks for a quick easy 6 ounce meal. We have cooked up a test batch and found them to be very tender and tasty at an affordable price per pound.

A mixed beef and pork frank has been created with grass-fed beef and humane certified pork by our award winning pork sausage maker. The flavor is the best, with an award winning texture. Note a touch of soy flour was added, much to our chagrin, to maximize the flavor on this batch. Rest assured, we are lobbying for a change on the next round.

U.S. Wellness is honored to offer Or-ion Premier E.F.A. sockeye fish oil capsules. These capsules are the only cold pressed capsules on the U.S. market. Competitive fish oil capsules are heated to 430 degrees in the encapsulation process. The Or-ion sockeye salmon fish oil is kept in a chilled state prior to the encapsulation process. This new technology maintains the DHA, EPA and omega 3 fatty acids in pristine condition. You can tell by noting the color difference in the fish capsules.

Delmonico steaks will be available for sale on September 8th. Delmonico steaks are a by-product of t-bone production and were made famous by East coast gourmet steak houses. Speaking of the East coast, our friends in the tri-state area have asked for a hanger steak cut from the hanging tender sub- primal. This entrée should be available by mid month.

To assist our customers in saving money, the U.S. Wellness staff has created a new honey and cheer free pemmican bulk pack containing 40 pemmican bars. During the same breath, we have created bulk packs of sirloin tip steaks and sandwich steaks that contain 12 steaks each for a 10% savings over single unit purchases.

Goat cheese has been restocked; however, procrastination is not advised due to wild acceptance on the first round. Please scroll to the lower section of the raw cheese page to purchase raw goat cheese.

Strongmen Jesse Marunde & Jon Andersen Corner
    Jesse Marunde

Jesse Marunde leaves in early September for a 4 week journey to determine the world’s strongest man in 2006. Jesse’s consumption of 100 pounds per month of U.S. Wellness Meats protein has created more muscle and superior stamina for competition. If Jesse avoids injury he will be in the running on the final day of competition after two grueling weeks of separating the wheat from the chaff.

We wish Jesse & Callie and trainer John Allen all the best in China.

Strongman, Jon Andersen, is still consuming 4 pounds daily of U.S. Wellness 75% burger in training for upcoming IFSA sanctioned events.

What Herb Can Boost Your Brain Health And Fight Cancer?

The aromatic intensely, saffron-yellow colored Turmeric a relative of ginger is a serious cancer fighter. While very popular in India and the Orient it is very neglected here in America. Why should Americans take a look at adding this herb to their diet?

    • Protects the liver against toxins
    • Fights free radicals
    • Lowers cholesterol levels
    • Aids Circulation
    • Protects against heart disease
    • Enhances Metabolism
    • Antibiotic properties
    • Anti-inflammatory properties
    • Anticancer Properties
    • Inhibited the spread of HIV in laboratory tests

It is best to cook with Turmeric to release all the beneficial nutrients which are both water and fat soluble. The fat-soluble chemicals will be released when cooking with a healthy fat. I enjoy sautéing onions in coconut oil and adding a little turmeric which I then enjoy putting on top of one of our ribeye steaks, very delicious.

Turmeric is one of the most important spices in curry powder. It is available in ground form for use in all kinds of everyday dishes including chicken, seafood, eggs, rice, potatoes and macaroni. When melting butter put in a pinch of turmeric and then mix it with your vegetables, a delicious addition. If cooking is not one of your favorite pastimes, US Wellness has a solution for you. Our hot selling BBQ shredded beef includes Turmeric and even kids love this top seller! If you can boil water you can enjoy this delicious dish.

Warning: Turmeric is not recommended for those with blocked bile ducts or gallbladder issues. It stimulates the liver to increase bile flow which normally is a good thing but it will only aggravate the above conditions.

What's Up Doc - by: Dr. Al Sears, MD
    Dr. Al Sears

U.S. Wellness Meats is pleased to feature Dr. Al Sears and his intriguing book, The Doctor's Heart Cure. Today Dr. Sears discusses
The Lion Diet vs. The Rhino Diet .

You many not realize it, but you’re genetically programmed to eat certain foods. To stay healthy and avoid being overweight, you need to eat the foods you were designed to eat. To find the answer, look to the diet of our hunter-gatherer ancestors. Your diet solution is literally millions of years old.

Contrary to what you hear on TV – and from your government – grains and refined carbs are not on your “genetic menu.” But this is a hard idea to get across. Some folks are so attached to the misleading advice they get from industry-funded media reports, they send me e-mails like this one:

Dr. Sears, Your comparison and analysis of the "Hunter-Gatherer" and the "Grain Farmer" makes about as much sense as saying that the grass and leaf eating ELEPHANT and RHINO are somehow "WEAKER, THINNER and MORE SICKLY" than the meat-eating lion. Believe me; the lion NEVER messes with the Elephant or Rhino, old Tarzan movies notwithstanding.

Your analysis is laughable and disappointing to me, being a subscriber to your newsletter. What you said also is largely not true. Your "history" is again shallow and not well researched or documented. Please do better research in future newsletters. [Name Withheld]

This happens a lot. After reading my books and articles, some people get hot under the collar. But the scientific and clinical evidence backing up my point of view is vast and well documented. Today, I’m going to share some of it with you:

    Breaking News

    1. U.S. Wellness is pleased to announce our harvesting house does not use the latest anti bacterial carcass spray. Believe it or not, FDA approved a “viral cocktail” that is sprayed on animal carcasses to kill unwanted bacterial pathogens. U.S. Wellness was amazed that FDA would approve a practice with such stunning negative perception.

    2. U.S. Wellness member John Wood is involved with a Missouri state wide wind steering committee looking at wind feasibility in Missouri. The steering committee will receive notice on or near September 1st, 2006 regarding a federal matching grant to complete a state wide wind resource feasibility study on all 114 Missouri counties. If any of our USA readers have a tax problem in 2006 and feels compelled to make a charitable contribution, please email John Wood at jwood@socket.net for a voluntary contribution form regarding a tax deductible 501 (C)(6) contribution. John Wood considers it common sense to harness the renewable wind that travels this great country daily.

    Minimum Purchase Reminder

Our new format enacted in April 2005 requires a $75 minimum purchase and a 7 pound minimum combined purchase of beef, lamb, pork, raw cheese, single piece poultry, and butter.

The issue is the bulk chicken and ten pound cheese bundles originate from separate cold storage centers where those products are produced. It is not efficient to ship one package of beef as a stand alone item when the balance of the order originates 400 miles away.

The shopping cart will keep track and remind you if you are under the 7 pound limit for a combination of beef, lamb, pork, raw cheese and butter purchases. Red font will appear under the shopping cart if you are under the minimum price or pound requirements
