Happy Valentine's Day!

February 15, 2015
 Monticello, Missouri
Dear John,
happyvalentinesday
Happy Valentine's Day weekend to all of our readers and customers!

Have you heard of the latest wrinkle-fighting, age-defying craze that is sweeping the country?  The one that doesn't come in beauty care bottles or jars?  That's right - this food product is one that our grandmothers have been making for generations, and the health benefits it can have are tremendous.  Bone Broth and Gelatin are delicious additions to any diet, and we highly encourage you to read Kelley Herring's article below for more reasons you should consider adding a glass a day to any healthy diet.  To get started, you may want to consider:

The hearty chicken broth is also on sale this week, making it a great time to stock up.  Chicken broth is a versatile cooking tool that can be added to other types of proteins for a healthy, rich flavor.

It's a surf 'n' turf sale this week!  The classic New York Strip Steaks and our Wild-Caught Raw Shrimp are both on sale this week only.  The cold Missouri temperatures this week had us wishing for blue skies and summer weather, so to combat the winter blues we decided it would be a good week for steak & shrimp.

We appreciate your support as we continue to break in our new website.  Thank you to everyone who has submitted feedback and questions about the changes as this has been a big help!

February Regards,

As an anti-aging specialist, I've spent a lot of time studying and treating osteoporosis among the many "older" patients who come to my wellness clinic.

Many of them believe they must accept this painful and dangerous condition as an unavoidable part of aging.

This means I also spent a lot of time debunking the osteoporosis propaganda put out by the medical establishment.

I want them to learn about the natural ways they can keep their skeletons strong - at any age!

Osteoporosis is a "silent" disease, because it gives no clue that you might have it until a slight bump or fall produces a nasty, disabling fracture.

The degeneration and weakening of bones - osteoporosis means literally "porous bone" - has become a virtual epidemic in America. Ten million people have developed the disease.(1)

Another 18 million have been diagnosed with osteopenia, a condition regarded as the precursor to osteoporosis.

And treating these ailments has become a giant cash cow for Big Pharma and the mainstream medical establishment, who hawk their heavy-duty medications to the masses of America's senior citizens.

Some doctors have even begun prescribing powerful medications to stop or delay the onset of osteoporosis to people as young as in their 30s and 40s...

The Five Cent Wrinkle Fix in Your Stockpot

By: Kelley Herring, Healing Gourmet

It has people lining up in New York City's Brodo to buy a steamy $9 cup... it is being called "the natural alternative to Botox"... and it is allegedly Gwyneth Paltrow's "new obsession."

You might assume that this wrinkle-fighting, age-defying food is a new discovery from the Amazon rainforest or a remote peak high in the Himalayas. Not true. In fact, there is a good chance that your great grandmother made this timeless superfood in a stockpot with little more than what most people consider "scraps."

If you haven't already guessed, I'm talking about bone broth...

What Is Gelatin - and How Does it Fight Wrinkles?

In my last article on the US Wellness Meats blog, I shared the many ways that consuming gelatin-rich bone broth can defy aging and promote healing. It can stimulate a variety of biochemical activities that can reduce inflammation, boost detoxification and keep us feeling young.

And while we all want to feel young, there's no doubt we want to look young too.

It's not breaking news that the beauty industry is big business. In fact, Botox alone - the muscle-paralyzing injection made from botulism toxin - grosses nearly $2 billion a year. The industry as whole - including creams, potions, serums and other forms of cosmetic surgery - is estimated at nearly $60 billion annually.

But the beauty and youthfulness of your skin is much less dependent on what you put on the outside. Far more important is what you're doing to nourish the inside.

Of course, proper hydration is vital. It is also important to get sufficient high-quality protein and healthy fats. But when it comes to wrinkles, the story goes a bit deeper...

Light Jogging May Be Most Optimal for Longevity: Too Much Strenuous Jogging May Be Harmful

Jogging may be best in small quantities, according to a study published today in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Researchers looked at 5,048 healthy participants in the Copenhagen City Heart Study and questioned them about their activity. They identified and tracked 1,098 healthy joggers and 413 healthy but sedentary non-joggers for 12 years.

The study, which tracked hours of jogging, frequency, and the individual's perception of pace, found that over the 12-year study strenuous joggers were as likely to die as sedentary non-joggers, while light joggers had the lowest rates of death.

Jogging from 1 to 2.4 hours per week was associated with the lowest mortality and the optimal frequency of jogging was no more than three times per week. Overall, significantly lower mortality rates were found in those with a slow or moderate jogging pace, while the fast-paced joggers had almost the same mortality risk as the sedentary non-joggers.

Researchers registered 28 deaths among joggers and 128 among sedentary non-joggers. In general, the joggers were younger, had lower blood pressure and body mass index, and had a lower prevalence of smoking and diabetes.

"It is important to emphasize that the pace of the slow joggers corresponds to vigorous exercise and strenuous jogging corresponds to very vigorous exercise," said Peter Schnohr, MD, DMSc, a researcher from the Copenhagen City Heart Study, Frederiksberg Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark. "When performed for decades, this activity level could pose health risks, especially to the cardiovascular system."

These findings show similar results to past studies where researchers have found that more than moderate exercise may cause more harm than good.

"The U-shaped association between jogging and mortality suggests there may be an upper limit for exercise dosing that is optimal for health benefits," Schnohr said. "If your goal is to decrease risk of death and improve life expectancy, jogging a few times a week at a moderate pace is a good strategy. Anything more is not just unnecessary, it may be harmful."

American College of Cardiology. "Light jogging may be most optimal for longevity: Too much strenuous jogging may be harmful." ScienceDaily. ScienceDaily, 2 February 2015. <www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/02/150202160703.htm>.

KISS Nutrition Plan + MG Training Videos to Slash 15 Pounds of Fat in 6 Weeks or Less!

By: Scott Mendelson

Scott,

I am desperate to lose 15 pounds of body fat before our tropical trip in late March, but it is very hard to get anything going with all of this snow and cold weather.  My husband will get off his lazy behind if I take the lead as he needs to lose 25 pounds of fat in his estimation.  I do the cooking so I can influence most of his food choices as well.  We are motivated to exercise often and eat right, but I am not fully confident in the plan details.  Do you have any top to bottom exercise and nutrition examples that my husband I can follow to reach my goals?

Linda

Made chimichurri skirt steak the other night with one inside steak and one regular steak.  Amazing flavor and so tender!  We also used the 75/25 ground beef for chili and it was awesome.  Can't wait to try everything else we bought!
