Sometimes Paleo Isn't Enough.
In a recent article titled Beyond Paleo, long time friend Kat James, shares her journey from obesity and food addiction to wellness.  In her own words,  "A low-carb, high-fat diet healed my food-addicted brain, poor digestion, and failing liver after 12 years of binge eating. After two years on this plan, I'd lost 10 dress sizes, my notorious pear shape, and every head-to-toe health complaint - including the canker sores; bladder infections; leaky gut; sniffling and allergies; blurry vision; oozing, flaking eye and chin rashes; and dizziness upon standing-without struggle. Family and colleagues assumed it was willpower. It wasn't. I had developed a profound biochemical peace."  To learn more about how to avoid some of the pitfalls of the Paleo diet read the entire article.

Following her amazing personal transformation, Kat began sharing her wisdom with others and has now helped thousands to achieve their own transformations.  Learn more about her "Total Transformation" programs at Kat's website. Kat has a couple openings remaining in her upcoming 8 days intensive  "Total Transformation" Mayan adventure cruise departing October 29th.

If you want to try some of these healthy high-fat foods we recommend our pemmican, grass-fed butter, grass-fed raw cheeses, duck fat, lamb tallow and beef tallow.

In this week's article, Kelley Herring shares four everyday foods that have been proven to lower blood pressure.  High blood pressure now affects one in three Americans and is a pre-cursor to the top five causes of death in America.

Dr. Sears recommends avoiding the pharmaceutical "sleep aids" and their dangerous side effects and reveals his natural cure for insomnia.  Remember to take advantage of the red letter discount code embedded within the Dr. Sears article.

Lately I'm finding that more and more of my patients are complaining about a lack of sleep.

After a long day they collapse into bed and drift off... only to wake up a few hours later, tossing and turning the rest of the night.

Without any deep, restful sleep, they wake the next day feeling tired, groggy and one step behind their peers. But that's not the worst of it...

"Wonderful Bacon"

We tried this bacon because it was on sale.  The pieces are easy to cut up and brown leaving you with lovely crispy bacon and bacon fat that tastes just wonderful.  I like to fry my organic quail eggs in it in the morning. Just the right amount log smokey too.

There is a deadly disease that affects 70 million Americans today - or one out of every three adults. That means there is a good chance that you, your spouse, and your loved ones could have this disease - and you might not even know it.

It's called the "silent killer" because often there are no symptoms or warning signs. But the effects are deadly.

In fact, this disease is a pre-cursor to the top five causes of death in America. Eighty percent of first-time stroke patients have it, as do 70 percent of those who experience their first heart attack.

Healthy Smothered Pork Chops
Smothered Pork Chops
Author: Wellness Mama
Prep Time:  10 min
Cook Time:  25 min

Serves:  6-8

  • 4 pork chops (or enough for your family)
  • 2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup of sliced button mushrooms (optional)
  • cup almond flour
  • 4 tablespoons butter or coconut oil
  • 1 egg
  • cup heavy cream (or coconut cream)
  • cup coconut milk
  • spices to taste: I used salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, basil, thyme, rosemary, and a tiny bit of turmeric
  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Beat the egg with about a teaspoon of water until smooth.
  3. Put the almond flour on a plate and mix with about tsp each of onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  4. Rinse each pork chop well.
  5. Dip each into the egg mixture and then in the almond flour.
  6. Put each pork chop into the pre-heated skillet with the oil and cook about 5 minutes per side (depending on thickness or pork chop) until starting to brown.
  7. While the pork chops are cooking, thinly slice the onions and mushrooms if not already sliced.
  8. Remove the pork chops and place on a plate.
  9. Add onions to pan and sprinkle with spices.
  10. Stir until caramelized and browned, about 8 minutes.
  11. Add mushrooms, if using, and cook until browned.
  12. At this point, scoot the onions to the side and return the pork chops to the pan. Spread the onions on top of and between the pork chops.
  13. Add the heavy cream and coconut milk and any additional spices and cook over low/medium heat for an additional 5-8 minutes until most of the milk has evaporated off and started to thicken.
  14. When sauce has thickened and pork chops are tender, serve each pork chop with a spoonful of the onion/mushroom sauce on top.
  15. Enjoy!

Thank you to Katie of Wellness Mama.  After Wellness Mama's first child was born, a mission was started to prove that her kids would not have a shorter lifespan than their parents. Smart foods and easy inexpensive recipes were the result.
