Remember to retrieve the 15% off red letter discount code embedded in the article. (Code expires this Tuesday at midnight CST; see full exclusions below)

Cigarettes aren't the only cause of lung cancer. Even though the number of smokers has gone down, lung cancer rates are still rising.

The culprit? Mainstream medicine.

As the creators of the high-carb, low-fat diet that's supposed to keep our hearts and bodies healthy, mainstream medicine is responsible for driving lung cancer rates higher - even among people who have never smoked a single cigarette in their life. And it's not just lung cancer. Insulin resistance - the kind you get from a high GI diet - is linked to higher rates of other cancers, including colon, liver and pancreatic cancers.

Did you know that there are 53 different names and meanings for turmeric in the Sanskrit language? Some of these meanings include, "a killer of fat"... "giving delight to heart"... and "one that wins over disease."

The ancients also believed that if you use turmeric, you could experience prosperity and luck. It may even guarantee that you won't be offered as a sacrifice!

Now, we have no evidence as to the latter... but when it comes to your health, the proof is
abundant that turmeric does your body good.

Golden Turmeric Sauce
"Turmeric and ginger are a great anti-inflammatory combination, and I try to use lots of these powerful roots in my cooking to stay feeling great. This recipe uses ingredients that are simple to stock in my pantry, making it a great on-the-fly addition if I haven't made a plan for dinner and need help re-imagining leftovers. Lastly, it keeps well in the refrigerator and freezer, making it a awesome candidate for batch-cooking.

Favorite ways to use this sauce:
  • Poured on top of protein or vegetables - I often serve it with whole roasted chicken
  • Added to the end of a stir-fry to flavor a dish
  • Used as a base for a curried vegetables or meat and served over cauliflower rice
  • Thinned with olive oil and apple cider vinegar and used as a salad dressing
  • Added to a soup or stew to infuse flavor
  • Used as a dip for raw root vegetables
  • Reimagined leftovers - I often heat a "scramble" of leftover shredded protein (chicken, beef, or pork) and vegetables with this sauce to add flavor
