Tree Buds
Dear John,
We've certainly seen a break in the winter weather this week.  End of February and it was 70 degrees in Northeast Missouri this weekend. Believe it or not we are even starting to see buds on the trees.  Who knows, maybe Punxsutawney Phil was right this time and Spring is not too far off.

As thoughts of Spring enter our minds, barbeques, picnics, and backyard parties won't be far behind.  Ground beef is a great option for any of these events and it our featured category for the week.  To get your 15% discount on Ground Beef & Burgers items enter the code "BURGER" in your shopping cart.  This discount is good thru February 23rd at 12:00 Midnight CST.  It only applies to Ground Beef & Burger items and orders under 40 lbs.  Excludes sale items, volume discounts, and gift certificates.

Sale items this week include two popular cuts of steak Ribeyes, and Coulotte Steaks, a favorite heat and serve item Pot Roast and Gravy, and kitchen staples Salted Butter and Chicken Stock.

We also have a nice list of Beef restocks for the week which include, Flank steak, Chuck Roast, Whole Brisket and a whole Primal Cut of Inside Round.

We received another fantastic review on our 85% lean ground beef~read below.  If you want a recipe for the ground beef check out Alaena Haber's recipe for mouthwatering Meatballs with Sticky Peach Sauce that calls for both ground beef and ground pork.

Dr Mercola's article this week contains some of the latest scientific evidence that high quality saturated fats, including grass-fed red meats, are good for you.

Warm Weather Regards,

New Scientific Analysis Confirms Saturated Fats Have No Link to Heart Disease

In February the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) submitted its 2015 Scientific Report to the USDA and Health and Human Services. This report serves as the foundation for the development of US dietary guidelines.

In a surprise twist, the DGAC not only suggested eliminating warnings about dietary cholesterol, it also reversed nearly four decades of nutrition policy by concluding that dietary fats have no impact on cardiovascular disease risk.

"Excellent Flavor and Texture!"

"Order received in Feb. of 2016 - Excellent grind, no gristle, and really lovely, grass-fed taste.  Whatever quality control issues there were in the past seem resolved (or, at least, were with my order).  Yum - Will order again!"

"Soups and stews are incredible choices right now, especially if following a gut-healing diet, but sometimes it's nice to break out of our soup binge, is it not? These meatballs will not only stick to your ribs but to your hands, face... hey they may even stick your hands to your face if you're not careful. Subtle sweetness is counterbalanced with savory bone broth, rosemary, and thyme, and a quick broil turns these meatballs into caramelized gooeyness that your kids and spouse will rave over! My favorite way to serve them is over a simple root vegetable puree (parsnips or Japanese yam are the best) with a side salad. "
