early spring sun
Dear John,
The ten day forecast for Northeast Missouri shows nothing but highs in the 60's.  With temps like that it may be fair to say that Spring is officially under way at least from Mother Nature's perspective.

As temps climb you might find yourself itching to fire up the grill, and to help you out we have 85% Lean Ground Beef, Duck Wings, Lamb Loin Chops and Lamb Kabobs all on sale this week.  For those of you not quite ready to break out the charcoal we also have an Eye of Round Roast if you'd rather do your cooking inside.

Here comes the sun and that means outdoor activities.  Check out a few of our restock items this weekend that make for quick snacks while you are on the trail or just because you are on the go.  (Chocolate Bars, Pecans, Mystic Mountain Trail Mix)

Thanks to the persistence of our friend Jenny in St. Louis, we finally created an All Sausage category in our online store.  Check it out and take advantage of the featured category discount.  To get your 15% discount on All Sausage items enter the code "SAUSAGE" in your shopping cart.  This discount is good thru March 12 at 12:00 Midnight CST.  It only applies to Sausage items and orders less than 40 lbs.  Excludes sale items, volume discounts, and gift certificates.

In the category of things we have been reading at US Wellness Meats you will find the new book from Carol Lovett, Ditch the Wheat: 120 Paleo Recipes for a Gluten-Free Lifestyle.  She allowed us to share a tasty recipe for Loaded Mashed Cauliflower with Green Onions & Bacon.  Any recipe with the words "loaded" AND "bacon" in the title is sure to be delicious.

In a change of pace, this week's health article comes to us from Diana Sproul of Transform Health LLC. In addition to being a fan of our products, Diana is a nutritionist, clinical herbalist and lifestyle coach in northern Colorado.  She reached out to us a couple of months ago and shared some articles that she thought would be beneficial for our readers.  She writes about the benefits of healthy fats in our diets, especially ones that come from pastured and grass fed sources. We hope you enjoy her article.

Warm Weather Regards,

John, Lee Ann, Tressa, Laura, Deric, and Courtney on behalf of the farm families of US Wellness Meats.

an excellent source of    omega 3's
I know that fats have gotten a bad wrap in the anti-cholesterol scare of the last sixty years, but there are beneficial forms of fats. Also, human bodies need fats, as there are fats in every cell of our bodies. Even government agencies are starting to have to admit that we were on the wrong course, pushing sugar and carbs instead of fat ingestion.
