Know Your Food, Know Your Farmer
What does it mean to be sustainably raised? It's an important concept that effects the soil, water, grazing animals and ultimately the food we eat. Thousands of years ago when buffalo roamed the prairie, nature was able to tend to itself without a lot of interference. Native grasses grew up providing nourishment for grazing animals. The animals naturally fertilized the prairie and soils were built and replenished. Grasses developed deep roots in rich soils populated with healthy micro-organisms, worms, and nutrients. There were no chemical pesticides or herbicides, no growth hormones, or antibiotics. 

US Wellness farmers began applying these same principles to the land about 20 years ago and made some amazing discoveries. These grass-fed, grass-finished meats contain higher concentrations of healthy Omega-3's, CLA, branch chain amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Long rest periods have been a drought reliever in Northeast Missouri this year. These animals are finding plenty of energy in this long rested sward.  The surplus of above ground growth shades the soil surface helping preserve moisture and keeping soil temperature cooler. 

These cattle are waiting patiently for the next paddock move into a new block of forage.  The dry matter that their feet have pushed into the soil surface will be food for the below ground soil organisms. The below ground life feeds the plant life above ground.

  • All orders must weigh at least 7 pounds in order to ship, to ensure everything stays frozen during transit.
  • $75 minimum purchase requirement, since we have built the cost of shipping into the price of each product.
  • You will never be charged extra for shipping.
  • There is a $9.50 handling fee upon checkout.
  • The South Carolina Chicken Bundles, BBQ Sauce, produce and cookbooks ship from separate locations, so they are not included in the 7 lb weight minimum.  The shopping cart will keep track and remind you if your order is under the 7 lb limit.   
Weight Discount
  • Receive a $25 discount for every 40 pounds you order. This offer excludes items that ship separate such as the South Carolina Chicken, produce and fresh bundles.
  • This is our way of saying thank-you for purchasing in bulk!
  • This can be any combination of products totaling 40 pounds and does not have to be specific to any category.  Each 40 pound interval will yield the discount - for example, order 80 pounds and we'll take $50 off!
