"Listen! The wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves, We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!”  ― Humbert Wolfe, Poet

Metaphorically Speaking

Seasonal changes aren't always the Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall variety. Some are personal, more reflective, metaphorical. Changes keep us on our toes and often give us something to get excited about. We might learn something new that results in a paradigm shift. Even something subtle like discovering a new favorite author, food, or musician can change our appreciation and priorities.

Where autumn was often a time of impending cold and winter, we look forward to the beauty in the changing scenery and routines. Trees and foliage begin taking on new, bright colors. We're able to enjoy more time outdoors without the heat of summer. Even our cravings begin to favor the rich and savory. Bigger pots come out of the pantry for soups, chilis and stews. It's the perfect time for cookouts and family gatherings. What a wonderful time for food & fun!

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to send us a note or left a product review. We truly appreciate it. For our new readers, please take a look at what others have said. Shout Out | PNW Biohackers

We recently fed a group of intrepid, seafaring biohackers in the Pacific Northwest. PNW Biohackers meet up regularly to explore new ideas in fitness, food, holistic health and nutrition. We were pleased to send some farm fresh foods for one of their recent outings. We've heard the Bacon Brats were a big hit! If you're in the Seattle area, look them up and learn to biohack.

Tag us (#uswellnessmeats) on your social media posts whenever you have a fresh new idea for a meal and we'll share with the rest of the community. Enjoy!

Omega-3 Stops Asthma; Omega-6 Makes It Worse

By Dr. Mercola

According to the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology, 8.3% of children in the U.S. had asthma in 2016. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) statistics suggest approximately 1 in every 12 people have asthma, including adults.

Boys have a slightly greater risk than girls. The cost of asthma in children aged 5 to 17 included 13.8 million days of school lost and a median cost of $983 per year. Children younger than 4 years were less likely to have asthma, but when they had an attack they were more likely to require emergency care

Adobo Seasoned Beef Meatballs

"We really enjoy these - the kind of thing to pull out when actual cooking is unappealing. Quick to heat, very mildly seasoned (goes well with sauces, for instance), but really nice and meaty - no fillers."

~ Kristine, Wisconsin

Chile con Carne

Recipe by: Russ Crandall, The Domestic Man

Cooler weather means soups, stews, and chilis. In the “old days”, pots would simmer on the wood stove for days constantly being revived with new ingredients, broths, and whatever was available to keep the soup going one more day.

Our thanks to past Featured Chef, Russ Crandall, aka The Domestic Man, for sharing this Chile con Carne recipe from his Heritage Cookbook. It's delicious!!!

Fall is in the air this weekend with a rare September blizzard in the northern Rockies and Great Plains. As the seasons change this group of cattle will begin the process of storing additional body fat for colder weather later this year. Mother Nature has a very unique time clock that cattle have adapted to over the centuries. Grazing cattle play a unique role in improving soil structure and utilizing millions of acres world wide not suitable for conventional agriculture. Cows Save The Planet by author Judith Swartz and Growing A Revolution by David Montgomery are two good resources that dive deeply into the critical need for ruminant grazing agriculture in the world today.

Order Minimums

All orders must weigh at least 7 lbs in order to ship, to ensure everything stays frozen during transit.

$75 minimum purchase requirement, since we have built the cost of shipping into the price of each product.

You will never be charged extra for shipping.

There is a $9.50 handling fee upon checkout that helps defray the cost of insulated packaging materials.

South Carolina Chicken Bundles ship from a separate location, so they are not included in the 7 lb weight minimum. The shopping cart will keep track and remind you if your order is under the 7 lb minimum.

BONUS Weight Discount

Receive a $25 discount for every 40 lbs you order. This offer excludes items that ship separate such as the South Carolina Chicken and Fresh Bundles.

This is our way of saying thank-you for purchasing in bulk!

This can be any combination of products totaling 40 lbs and does not have to be specific to any category. Each 40 lb interval will yield the discount - for example, order 80 lbs and we'll take $50 off!
