Grassland Washing Machine
There's a variety of ways to supply food for the planet. Food can be grown or raised on small family farms or on corporate farms. It can be cultivated in a laboratory. It can be mass produced cheaply or in smaller quantities. Priorities matter as it does with everything else. Our farm families have chosen to raise food with a particular set of goals and principles that encourages the healing and regeneration of soils, air, and water. A lot more time and work goes into caring for an animal this way, and it costs more, but we think it's worth it for the animal's health and well-being, the land, and for our customer. We have the best customers on the planet, so we want to make sure we serve the best tasting and most nutritious foods available.
Sustainability generally means being able to maintain a certain level of balance for present survival without sacrificing future survival. What does that mean specifically? Our farms practice rotational grazing so the soils have time to rest and heal. We don't use pesticides, herbicides, or toxic chemicals that kill the life in the soil. Microbial life is important to the richness of the soil which feeds the plants our animals graze on. We don't use antibiotics on our animals and we don't use GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). Grasslands have also been proven to help wash the atmosphere. Pasture lands and prairies are like giant washing machines, cleaning the carbon out of the atmosphere, capturing it in soils and turning it into a valuable resource for plant nutrition, which in turn is passed to us when we enjoy a thick juicy steak, burger or breakfast sausage.

Product Feature | Grass-fed vs Grass-finished: What's the Difference
When you’re shopping for the best beef, there’s more to it than you may realize. Factors like the way the cattle was raised, what it was fed, the pasture rotation practices, and whether or not it was given antibiotics and growth hormones all affect the quality of the meat — both in terms of nutrition and taste. So what's the difference between Grass-fed and Grass-finished? Read more on our Discover Blog.
