Regenerative Agriculture
Healthy soils are vital to the health and well-being of our planet and ourselves. Why are healthy soils so important? Nearly every food relies on soils for nutritional content, from fruits and veggies, to the grazing animals US Wellness Farms raises. All rely on soil composition and the biology below ground for nutrition. Healthier soils will have a larger, more diverse population of Microorganisms. In fact, scientists estimate that there are more organisms in a tablespoon of healthy soil than there are people on earth. These organisms produce vital nutrients that are sucked back up into the plants that are eaten by people or animals. The animals we raise are fortunate to have some of the healthiest soils available. As omnivores, we also benefit from the condition of the soils because we consume the fruits and veggies that grow in the ground and the meat from grazing animals. By choosing to buy your food from regenerative farms like US Wellness Meats, not only are you getting more vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, and nutrients in your diet, you are also helping the planet by promoting soil regeneration.
Besides the nutritional benefits of regenerative farms, grasslands are known to support the process of carbon sequestration. Carbon sequestration is when atmospheric carbon (carbon dioxide) is captured and recycled by plants and mycorrhizal fungi in the soil as organic matter. Managed grazing plays an important role in the process too. Grazing animals will eat a portion of the plants, trample some underfoot as compost, and also leave some important natural fertilizer behind to encourage soil regeneration. Our farmers rotate pastures so the land also has a chance to rest and restore. Healthy soils produce deep rooted plants that pull carbon deeper into the soil for microorganisms to use. These soils also reduce erosion and runoff by capturing and holding moisture far better than compacted, unhealthy soils.
Happy New Year, Team USWM

Nutrient Knocks Out #1 Cause of All Disease By Dr. Sears
Back in 2002, in my book The Doctor’s Heart Cure, I showed compelling evidence that chronic inflammation is the number one cause of accelerated aging and the diseases related to it. Sadly, most of the world today is inflamed – thanks to our modern diet that includes inflammatory ingredients like refined sugar, cheap vegetable oils, and processed carbohydrates. These foods cause relentless inflammation in our bodies because we weren’t designed to eat them. But there’s no need to worry. There are simple and fast ways you can conquer inflammation – and reclaim your good health!
January 2025 Featured Chef
Our January Featured Chef is Leah Drumheller. Leah found her love for cooking at just six years old, thanks to a cookbook from her aunts. After being diagnosed gluten intolerant, she reinvented her favorite meals, creating nourishing, delicious, easy-to-make recipes. "I am a foodie at heart and enjoy crafting gluten-free recipes inspired by my loved ones. My passion for cooking started at a young age as a creative outlet and grew into a mission to create meals that never compromise on taste, texture, or artistry. When I’m not creating gluten free goodness, you can find me reading a good book, hitting up the gym with my husband, or cozied up on the couch watching football!"— Leah Drumheller This week, Leah prepares her famous Slow Cooker Beef Chuck Ragu. Indulge in the ultimate comfort food with this rich and savory dish.
