Sloppy Wet Kisses
If you have a dog or cat at home, they have likely become part of the family. They have a tendency to do that with their tail wagging, wet kisses, and steadfast loyalty. If you're reading this, you've probably spent some time studying to understand the difference between healthy food and unhealthy food, processed foods and natural foods, real and fake. You've done this because you care about yourself and your family. Remember those wet kisses mentioned above. Yep, they're part of the family too and that's why it's equally important to make sure our furry friends are eating right too.
Feeding dogs and cats a natural raw diet offers a range of health benefits that align more closely with their evolutionary biology than highly processed kibble. Dogs, as omnivores, and cats, as obligate carnivores, thrive on diets that mirror what their ancestors consumed in the wild. Raw diets typically consist of uncooked meat, bones, organs, and sometimes fruits and vegetables. This approach avoids the fillers, artificial preservatives, and high carbohydrate content —especially corn — that dominate many commercial kibbles, which can be difficult for pets to digest and may contribute to long-term health issues.
One of the most immediate benefits of a raw diet is improved digestion. Raw food contains natural enzymes that aid in breaking down nutrients, leading to better absorption and less gastrointestinal distress. Pets on raw diets often produce smaller, less odorous stools, a sign of efficient digestion. Additionally, raw bones help clean teeth naturally, reducing tartar buildup and promoting better oral health without the need for synthetic dental chews or frequent cleanings.
Skin and coat health also tend to improve significantly with raw feeding. The inclusion of essential fatty acids like Omega-3 and Omega-6 — found in raw meats and fish — can lead to shinier coats, reduced shedding, and fewer skin irritations. Many pet owners also report increased energy levels and a stronger immune response in their animals, likely due to the higher nutrient density and absence of inflammatory ingredients like corn and soy.
Perhaps most importantly, a raw diet supports long-term wellness and longevity. By feeding pets in a way that respects their natural dietary needs, owners can help prevent obesity, allergies, and chronic conditions such as diabetes and arthritis. While raw diets require planning and attention to your pets responses, the payoff is a healthier, more vibrant companion whose diet fuels their body the way nature intended. Check out our full line of Raw Pet Foods and make sure your furry family member has a long, healthy life for lots of those wet kisses.
All the Best, Team USWM

Cheers to This "Guilty Pleasure" By Dr. Sears
Happy 4th of July!
To celebrate our great nation’s birthday, nearly two-thirds of us will be hosting or going to a backyard barbeque. I know I’ll be firing up the grill. For my family and me, there’s nothing better than watching fireworks while eating a big, thick grass-fed steak or burger. And if you want to want an ice-cold beer with your meal, go ahead and enjoy!
July 2025 Featured Chef
Our June Featured Chef is Carissa Tang. Carissa is a Certified Holistic Health Coach and loves traveling abroad to learn new recipes. She has a unique cooking style, putting her spin on traditional recipes or creating completely new recipes that avoids refined sugars, seed and vegetable oils and focuses on clean ingredients.
We asked Featured Chef, Carissa Tang, how she got involved in cooking?
“I sought to reverse my Celiac disease and diabetes the natural route by being more conscious and intentional with my cooking, only consuming grass-fed meat, no longer eating foods with refined sugars, and no longer cooking with seed and vegetable oils.” - Carissa Tang This week, Carissa shares her Boneless Beef Short Rib Sandwich with Lemon Tahini Sauce. She uses a recipe for Cloud Bread that is quick and easy. Give this recipe a try!
