Living Soils... Healthy soil doesn't happen by accident. It's the result of working with nature instead of against it. Regenerative farmers understand that grazing animals play a vital role in creating fertile ground and thriving pastures. Through managed grazing, cattle, sheep, and other livestock are moved through smaller paddocks for short periods of time, closely mimicking the natural movement of historic grazing herds. As the animals graze, their hooves gently press seeds into the soil, break up surface crusts, and help distribute valuable nutrients through manure and natural organic matter. This partnership between animals, plants, and microbes jumpstarts the biological activity that builds healthy soil from the ground up. To see this process in action, visit the US Wellness Meats YouTube channel, where fifth-generation cattle farmer John Wood shares how soil regeneration works on his family farm. Just as important as grazing is knowing when to step back and let the land rest. Strategic rest periods give plants time to recover, deepen their root systems, and capture carbon from the atmosphere. In healthy soils, root systems from prairie grasses can extend beyond six feet deep. Many regenerative farmers also plant cover crops to keep living roots in the soil year-round, protect against erosion, improve water retention, and feed beneficial soil organisms. By thoughtfully rotating livestock and allowing adequate recovery time between grazing events, farmers create a natural cycle of growth and renewal that strengthens biodiversity and improves soil resilience season after season. Beneath the surface, an entire community of organisms is hard at work improving the land. Earthworms, beneficial fungi, bacteria, protozoa, nematodes, and countless other microorganisms form a thriving underground ecosystem that drives soil health. Earthworms create channels that improve air and water movement, while fungi and bacteria break down organic matter, recycle nutrients, and form beneficial relationships with plant roots. Together, these organisms build soil structure, increase fertility, and help plants access the minerals they need to grow. A healthy population of soil life is one of the clearest signs of living, productive ground. Farmers and gardeners can encourage this biological activity by adding compost, planting cover crops, reducing tillage, avoiding synthetic chemicals, and using mulch to conserve moisture. When this underground workforce is allowed to flourish, the entire ecosystem becomes more resilient, productive, and capable of producing nutrient-dense food. The reward for these regenerative practices is nutrient-dense food and healthier landscapes. Livestock raised on diverse pastures benefit from a wide variety of forage, helping produce meat rich in beneficial fats and nutrients. Crops grown in healthy, biologically active soils often contain higher levels of minerals and antioxidants while delivering exceptional flavor. From managed grazing and cover crops to rest periods and thriving micro-organism populations, every piece of the regenerative puzzle works together to create a cycle of abundance. It's a farming approach that improves the land year after year while producing the wholesome food families can feel good about bringing to the table. All the Best, US Wellness Meats' Team

15% OFF Storewide Discount Code Was This Ignored Delicacy the World's First Superfood? By Dr. Sears I rarely – if ever – use the word “superfood.” It’s a phrase created by advertising agencies. And it has lost all meaning because it’s so overused. But when a food is so powerful and transformative that it helped us develop into the humans we are today, I feel comfortable using the term. Today, I want to talk to you about one such “super” food. A food that is so powerful can transform your health. I’m talking about... Danielle Pastor - 2026 Featured Chef Our Featured Chef for September 2026 is Danielle Pastor. Danielle is the author of Eat Well. Live Fully: Transforming Meals Into a Lifestyle of Health. She is also a wellness entrepreneur, faith-based coach, certified personal trainer, content creator, and passionate home chef behind Lifestyle by Danielle, a lifestyle brand centered around living with purpose—body, soul, and spirit. "I started cooking because I needed to figure out how to feel better. I was struggling with my health and realized I needed to completely change the way I was eating. But I quickly learned that I couldn’t just eat plain meat and vegetables every day—it was bland, boring, and definitely not sustainable for me! 😂 Coming from South Louisiana, I love bold flavors, so I started experimenting in the kitchen and figuring out how to make whole, nourishing foods taste incredible. That’s really where my love for cooking began." – Danielle Pastor LAST CHANCE - Enter to Win! Every month we offer readers an opportunity to win grass-fed and pasture-raised meats.
